Weekly update May 2, 2021

Not a lot to show this week. Just one update on the Medieval Tapestry, and some knitting. Things have been distracting me from stitching this week.

This is as far as I’ve got on the Medieval Tapestry. Just 3 more flowers to go and then a whole lot of background. The design is by Natalia Frank and I am stitching it on 60 count silk gauze with mostly Soie Surfine silk thread and Gloriana Tudor for the red background.

Here are some of the knitting projects that have been distracting me this week.

This is the start of the Queen Susan shawl, which is a Shetland lace design, and the pattern can be found on Ravelry. I am using a very fine merino wool ‘thread’ from Habu textiles, which has been in my stash for many years.

These 2 are the starts of the Flower Medley Hoodie, a pattern I got from Knitpicks. I am using Palette for the colourwork and FibraNatura Mermaid for the body of the sweater.

I have also been doing a little bit of miniature knitting on the Ashley pattern by Sharon de Vries,  but not much more to show than last week. I had knit the petticoat for it, but when I went to join it to the skirt of the dress I made a mistake and ended up dropping quite a few stitches which of course ran several rows down, through some double decreases. I tried to fix it, but after struggling for half an hour and not getting anywhere, I cut it off and started over.

And then there is the test knit that I am working on but can’t show. The rounds are getting to be very very long (well over 600 stitches), so it is slow going. But I have till August to finish it, so hopefully it will be done by then.

Weekly progress.

I have decided to take a break from Facebook for a while. This will end up being shared to my personal page, but I will not see or respond to any comments. If you want to comment you can do so on my blog post so that I can monitor what comments show.

So, here is what I’ve been working on for the last week.

This is the Medieval Tapestry that I am testing for Natalia Frank. I am stitching it on 60 count silk gauze with Soie Surfine and Gloriana Tudor for the red background.

This is also designed by Natalia Frank. It is called Love is (aka romantic picture). also being stitched on 60 count gauze with Soie Surfine.

This is the Lazy Afternoon wall hanging by Nicola Mascall. Being stitched on 60 count silk gauze with Soie Surfine. This one is going to be progressing more slowly because I want to finish the tapestry first.

Here are a few other things I been working on as well.

Some of the smaller knitting I’ve been doing (besides the adult size sweater that is a test knit and can’t show till the pattern is published). This design is by Sharon de Vries. The pattern is called Vicky for Bonnie Babe. I have knit it with Aurifil 50 cotton thread on 1 mm needles. Yes, the panties still need a silk ribbon, and the dress needs some blocking and a button at the back neck. I also still need to knit the bonnet and bib, but I decided to first try out the new silk thread I just got, Kimono silk thread by Superior  Threads.

IMG_2175This is also a design by Sharon de Vries called Ashley. It is being knit with the Kimono silk thread on 0.7mm needles. I need to knit the petticoat now which needs to be added at this point before knitting the bodice.I have no idea what size dollhouse doll will fit this. We’ll see when it is finished.

One larger item that I started many years ago and that I finally decided to set up so that I can work on it a bit every day in the hopes that it will eventually get done is this large design called Konstantinopel Hamam Mandala by Chatelaine designs. It uses a lot of different stitches, threads as well as different beads. It is fun to stitch, it just got put aside when I got into miniature stitching.

This is just the center part of it and I am stitching it on 28 count black linen with most of the cross stitches over 2. I turned it 90 degrees for the picture, the top of the center design is actually the point at the top right.

If you have any questions you can contact me through Facebook Messenger, or post a comment on the blog.

Blogging again

I finally managed to find a program to be able to blog from my computer instead of having to go to the website. I used to use Windows Live Writer, but they stopped supporting it, and I at one time found a new open source version of it, Open Live Writer, but for some reason the installation file that is linked on the source website is not approved by Google, so you can’t use it. But today I managed to find a link to the source that does work, so we are now back in business. Here is the source for anyone interested. https://olw.blob.core.windows.net/nightly/Releases/OpenLiveWriterSetup.exe

Here is what I am working on at the moment:

This design is by  Natalia Frank which I am testing for her. This will be a 1/12 scale miniature Medieval tapestry and I am stitching it on 60 count silk gauze with Au Ver a Soie Soie Surfine silk threads. This is being very addictive, and I have a hard time convincing myself that I do need to stitch on other things as well.

This photo is of the other project I am working on at the moment.

The designs are by Nicola Mascall. On the right is the Napoleon III Aubusson carpet, which was originally designed as a 1/12 scale carpet on 40 count silk gauze, but I want to put it in a 1/24 scale house that I am planning on building in the near future, so I am stitching it on 72 count silk gauze also with Soie Surfine.

In the middle is the matching bell pull in the original 1/12 scale size that I stitched years ago on 40 count with Madeira cotton threads.

To the left of it I am stitching the same bell pull for the 1/24 scale house on the 72 count gauze, also with Soie Surfine, and I am changing the colours to match the upholstery that I stitched last year for the 1/24 scale chairs on 84 count silk gauze. It has a blue background and I am changing the blue flowers to purple ones.
